...Saturday, August 2nd at the Auburn, CA Municipal Airport.

An awesome mix of classic cars and vintage airplanes. WWII Warbirds include P-51 Mustangs, Hawker Sea Furys, F4U Corsair, (possible) P--40 Warhawk to be flown as well as Marine Corps Harrier Jets.

I will have (3) red, white and blue GT/CSs displayed near the announcer's stand and have room for 3 more if you are in the area & want to join us.

There will be a pilot's dinner on Friday evening (only $12 per person) where I can arrange to pose your favorite Mustang in front of one of the P-51s for photos as in the past...

This is "Big Piston Passion" at it's best!
Visit: www.thunderinthesky.org for details or PM me if you want to display.

...Indeed, and you won't have to buy the dinner - just contact me in advance and I'll get you out on the ramp for pics on the Friday afternoon. Saturday will be sketchy as we're not displaying cars alongside the warbirds due to flyby logistics.

YES Renee.... Of course you will take the white CS :)

Hey Tim,

Really looking forward to the airshow next Saturday!! Can you get me close to one of those P-51 Mustangs???? I remember as a kid when my Dad was stationed at Edwards AFB I used to crawl all over them as my Dad was working on them. I would love to get a picture of me standing in front of one for my Mom :cheesy:

Renee,
The P-51s based at Edwards were used by N.A.C.A. for high speed aerodynamic testing of future X-plane models (that were affixed to the wing) among other things. Several of them were fitted with the high vertical tail that was standard on the "H" models for greater stability. One of the P-51s coming to the show is a former NACA Mustang that you may well have played on :)

Fun with warbirds...

...as Renee and I took our Mustangs out on the ramp for some photos. We then wound up giving our own Mustang rides up & down the taxiways to some of the pilots and organizers. This included a couple of impromptu drag races with Yak 11 pilot (Kent) driving Renee's car ;-)

More to come after the weekend!

What a day!...

...'"Flew" down in 3 GT/CS with PonyGal, my sister Sharon, brothers; Brian, Sean and Tom and were the talk of the classic car display! 'Some 50 in all including '65s '66s '67s and two Cobras. Robert "HappyHour" joined us later in the morning with his CS (which I never got to see) I was wisked away to the announcer's stand upon arrival and was privileged to MC the whole event with long-time "Voice of the Reno Air Races" Sandy Sanders. The flying was fabulous, crowds excellent, and the weather - made to order! Needless to say, I wasn't able to get many pictures of the warbird fly-bys, but hopefully there will be some along shortly :) Many many wonderful comments and curiosities about the cars! ......What a day!!!

Indeed Tim, it was quite a day!!! The weather was outstanding, the planes were amazing, and the cars were beautiful!! Tim did a fantastic job as announcer and a good time was had by all.

It was great to see Robert (HappyHour) and his friend Robert who came up from the bay area. Did not get a chance to see his car, but hopefully next time.

Hey Robert... Post some of the pictures you took.

Great Pictures Renee!...

...You captured the essence of the day beautifully! I also want to thank you for taking such great care of us up in the announcer's stand as well as the special guests :) Your energy and unstoppable enthusiasm are truly what make these events extra special!

I received an e-mail this a.m. from Clark Cook; well known aviation photographer who attended and has his own website: www.airshowpix.net

These are just a few of his photos!

Hey Robert... Post some of the pictures you took.

As soon as I get done pouting. The stories of Friday made me wish I could have partaken in the foolishness. Drag racing down the stagin road??! And man those pictures with the planes came out great!

Sat on arrical I was gonna pull my car to the show area but we parked on opposite side and that entailed driving all the way back to the other side pass that had impossible passthru. Then we had to hi tail it back to the city to catch the end of a crab boil. Darn!

Next time would love to have the CS with it cuzins...it ran up and back like a champ although still need to sort out the camber-front steering-squirreliness (thats a technical term of the issue).

Thanks for hosting me and my buddy Tim and Renee it was great touring with you...amazing airshow with small town feel and originality!!

Pix coming...

Robert, it was a pleasure having you there!! Had a great time "gawking" at all the planes with you and your friend. Can't wait to see the pics you took.

Oh, by the way...I never got that beer you promised me! You owe me one!!!
