OK I give up ... registry question

In the 96 registry book, most of the owner's names have an '*' and/or a '#' next to it.

What does that mean?

I looked through the book over and over and can't find a reference to this.
It's probably in some obvious place like Arlie's bus picture right?

I have to double check, but I think the asterisk means that they were also in the 1988 Registry.

I have to think about the # sign. I'll get back to you.
