Anyone can carry his burden, however hard, until nightfall. Anyone can live sweetly, patiently, lovingly, purely, till the sun goes down. And this all that life really means.

Inspiration….comes into us slowly and quietly and all the time, though we must regularly and every day give it a little chance to start flowing, prime it with a little solitude and idleness.

Roy Rogers Riders' Club

Do kids play cowboys anymore?
To my knowledge, kids of recent years consider it old-fashioned.

But I grew up in the age of the Western. In those movies, you always knew who the bad guys were. And you always knew your heroes would be victorious.
Roy Rogers had his own group of fans called the "Roy Rogers Riders' Club." There were 10 rules you had to follow to be a member in good standing.
Many kids today would find them pretty lame. But as a former kid and Western fan, I still find them relevant.

  1. Be neat and clean.
  2. Be courteous and polite.
  3. Always obey your parents.
  4. Protect the weak and helpless.
  5. Be brave but never take chances.
  6. Study hard and learn all you can.
  7. Be kind to animals and care for them.
  8. Eat all your food and never waste any.
  9. Love God and go to Sunday school regularly.
  10. Always respect our flag and country.
Happy trails pardners....till we meet again.

The last of the human freedoms: to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.

Focusing our attention-daily and hourly-not on what is wrong, but on what we love and value, allows us to participate in the birth of a better future, ushered in by the choices we make each and every day.

Success is more a function of consistent common sense than it is of genius.
