1968 Need Opinion

Firstly I assume that since your asking - your restoring this car ;)

Too much? - no but would fade it a bit more (the black over the red) holding the can further from the panel. Too close also produces those irregular edges we see on the drivers side.

Photo-shopped your picture to add a little more to give it more of a factory IMHO look

In your wheel wells - Where you going to reshot the firewall/cowl section since I noticed you left off the seam sealer that would have been under the black? The seams indicated by the green arrow IMHO were always done (think that was the plan) while the seam with the red arrow got seam sealer most of the time that year) Also a worker often brushed the panel above the seam (marked with the red arrow) sealer applying a generous coat

Not sure of when your car was built but since its here we can guess that its at least a Spring 68 San Jose car. Here are a couple of original examples to help - with a little variation ;) as one includes the outer seam also in this area

While we are at it the inner fender to firewall seam is typically chalked on the engine side also (under the black)
