I would like to know if the water jackets are different from a 66 and 68 heads with a 289 eng just wondering if that is whey i am over heatin g in summer when tem p is high and humidity is high i put in another fan to help cool it down

The water passage configuration is the same. Possibly you put one gasket on upside down. This is a common mistake as there is a front and back. A reverse install will cover the water jackets on one end.

What if the weather is 60 out and you don't over heat does it still mean that the gasket are wrong?
