There you go Arlie a Highland green GT-CS for that empty hole in your garage. It would be good to see more pictures and a Marti report. Is it far from you? Marty

Pretty late car, very near the end of production.

Air cleaner looks like a mid to late 1970's Ford.

I saw it listed on E-Bay. Looks do-able, but would need an 'eyeball' inspection first. I asked the seller about the missing P/S & A/C components, but did not get a response.
I see 10-12K easy, to fix it up to a driver status.

170407 is an extremely high number.

The Recognition Guide shows only 9 cars built after that.
Does anyone have the 1996 registry? How many cars built after this car does that one show?

Got a response from the seller: the underhood A/C components are in the trunk. P/S system was removed. ???

I don't blame you. I was seriously thinking about that car, too. And Highland Green is definitely the best color!!!

I guess it's just a good thing Ford expanded from, any color as long as it's black.

Our HCS was built on July 16 # 169927 and our 68 fastback was built on July12 # 218358 in Dearborn Marty

I have 6 HCS cars in the registry w/ a 30th date ie. 171489, 171869, 171871, 171876, 171996, and 171998 which is the last HCS in the registry as of today. None of these car numbers were sumitted with a deluxe Marti report to show us the ACTUAL build date, but were the dates on the door tag, which we all know MAY OR MAY NOT be the actual build date. PS, DOES ANYONE HAVE A DELUXE MARTI WITH AN ACTUAL BUILD DATE OF THE 30TH??????????????? Speak up, fellows and gals. Let's see where this thread leads us. Hicountry Bob here.

I may be wrong but I think it was Casey who once told me that July 18 was the last day for CS cars being built; I don't know if this would apply to HCS.

Casey was telling me all this when we all thought that Pauls' book was coming out and he said that they found the production ending date for CS was 7/18/68 - Exactly 6 months from when the 1st one CS was built.

My car was according to the Marti
Serialized 7/1/68
BUCKED 7/15/68
SCHEDULED FOR BUILD 7/29/68
ACTUALLY BUILT 7/18/68
RELEASED 7/23/68
SOLD 9/20/68

Ford did not build there cars in a excact numerical sequence. There were three assembly plants and as the orders came in the VIN # was assigned to the plant where it would be built. Cars 01 and 02 were not necessarly built one after another. All we know for sure is the actual manfacture date on the Marti report. Marty
