vent windows

I would like to replace my vent windows.......not the tinted glass, but the actual window frames. Mine do not close very well, and are pitted. These appear to be hard to come by...........I can find vent window glass, and vent handles etc..............but not the actual vent frame itself. Probably a stupid question...............but can you buy the frame only or does it came together as vent window glass with frame etc. I've tried google search......anyone have suggestions where to look for these?

Thanks/Sam

I think NPD sells them. something like $150 each. I heard they were a pain to change out.

I do have a nice original set I paid $400 for.

They are on eBay once in a while and there are always the good old wrecking yards. Those are the only 2 sources I can think of. You might want to contact Wild West Classic Mustang Ranch, in Seattle. There is also a huge Mustang wrecking yard in Colorado that was posted in a thread on this site a month or so ago.

I'm in the same boat with my CS. My first visit will be salvage yards but I wonder what the chances are of finding a set in better shape than mine!?

For my concourse restoration I drilled out the rivets and sent the frames to the chrome shop, and polished the stainless steel. It was dificult to get the rivets back into the channel, but I was able to do it. The rivets did not match and it wasn't a perfect job, but the rivets are covered anyway. The only person who knows the rivets aren't perfect is me (and now all of you).

Same situation for me. My vent windows were pitted and looked bad. I thought of just replacing them for $199 each, but prior experience with aftermarket Chinese made parts made me reconsider. I took mine apart and sent them to a chrome shop. It cost me just over $500 for the work but they look great and they are original. The inner riveting doesn't show at all. New weather stripping and the result is "like new".If your windows can't be reworked, I would search the internet or junk yards for originals and have them reconditioned.

Last fall there was a '67 coupe in a yard near me. I'll try to get by there this week and see if it's still there and if the vent windows are still in. If they are and they're decent, I'll grab them for you if you want. If nothing else you could send the new ones off for reconditioning and leave your originals in place till these came back.

Careful, guys, '67 and "68 vent frames are DIFFERENT. Look at the "THROW" of the handles

Bob beat me to it, lol...back in 1974 my CS was hit broadside (by a 68 Ford truck) and the right door had to be replaced. Before I knew it the body shop put a 67 door on and I noticed right away that the vent window handle was 'backwards'. I had a fit but couldn't get them to change it out. To this day I grumble whenever I look at that right hand vent handle! :nonono2:

wild west classic

just so you know the Wild West Classic Mustang Ranch has either went out of business or has moved. I'm on a mission to find out where they went. I got spoiled with them being within walking distance from my house.

Ok folks I don't see it. I've looked at '67 Mustangs and '68 Mustangs on eBay and the vent windows look the same. What is the difference?

I can see that the handles are different but what about the frames?

I always though the frames were the same. When I called Orlando Mustang to buy some 68 vent window frames Pete Geisler sold me a set and when they arrrived they had a sticker they made saying 67/68 frames. Don't know if this helps but I do know Pete knows his stuff.

Without actually looking at it I would gather from the comments that the handles for the frames are different for the two years. On the same side of the car, one rotates clockwise to lock and the other rotates counterclockwise to lock.

Did I win the prize?
