What a nightmare. My control valve went bad. So, I bought a rebuilt from NPD and it failed almost immediately. I then bought a brand new unit from NPD. It failed while still being in the shop. When I called NPD, they told me the parts were international and not US made. Hint (china). To go US, I bought a rebuilt Cardone and that unit will not screw in all the way. Model 28-6653. I returned it and got another one and the same thing, it will not screw all the way in. The funny thing is that the chinese versions screwed all the way in with no problem. My mechanic is looking around for a US replacement and hopefully he finds something on Tuesday. Anyone had this kind of problem before?

Send your original to Rode's Restoration in Gallon OH. He does great work and most often turns it around the same week he gets it.

Odd, unless the bores are bad (worn, scored or pitted) there are only about 3 or 4 seals to install. Pretty easy to rebuild.

A common error is not replacing the olives (seals in the hose ports). If old and scored they can leak like a sieve. Easy to replace, so if the leaks are there something simple to check and replace (a new set runs $15-20 IIRC)
