Hey y'all,
I've been on the boards looking around for quite a while, but have never introduced myself. I'm Kris and my wife and I purchased our California special in Nov '05.
I had a 68 in high school and loved it, unfortunately I had to sell it to pay for college. When I had my coupe I saw a California special at a swap meet and ever since then I knew I had to have one.
My wife and I purchased the GTCS in Shreveport, LA and brought it to Fort Worth, Texas. We have been working on it in our spare time and hope to have it on the road by the end of the year.
I don't have the VIN with me, I’m out of town at the moment, but when I get back I'll post it if anyone is interested. I have a Marti report too. From the factory it had a 289, 3-speed, power disk brakes, power steering, AC, painted Highland green with tan interior.
Since then it has been repainted red and has set for 15+ years. I know I’m going to get a lot of flack from this board, but we are putting a fuel injected 5.0 and a 5 speed in the car. We were going to leave it stock but the motor was in horrible shape and since it was not the original we decided it would be more cost effective to replace it. I always wanted to make my old mustang EFI but never had the resources to do, so we decided to convert this one.
I've got lots of pictures posted here, if you want to take a look:http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2179512
Talk to y'all later
