Is John Travolta doing his part to stop Global warming? His "carbon" footprint is rather large to say the least. And he wants me to stop driving my SUV? Give me a break!!!

He's not the only one.

Al Gore’s Personal Energy Use Is His Own “Inconvenient Truth”
Gore’s home uses more than 20 times the national average

Last night, Al Gore’s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.

Gore’s mansion, located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.

“As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk the walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.

In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006

...Yep! I guess all we can do now is have Steve and Kathy (HG) go to Gore's house next time their homes freeze into oblivion like earlier this year!

'Has merit you know... 'Might be worth listening to his crap about global warming in exchange for a hot bowl of soup ;-)

in those numbers they should find out how many square feet his house is and see how many kilowatts he is using per foot. the national average by those numbers would be 900 kilowatts hours a month per home. What if his house is using half the amount per foot than the national average? Does he make what the "average" American makes in a year? Is he 40 times more wealthy than a "average" American? Do they think a Ex VP will live the life of a "average" American?

There are always two sides to every coin (statistic) and I think the original info about AL was written as a negative.

I am not a AL Gore supporter but rather someone trying to point out the numbers on this topic might be biased.

Heck by those numbers I use 8 times the national average for my home just for electricity.

Al Gore has the money to invest in solar power and wind power and so do all the rest of the wealthy population.
