PHOSPHATE and OIL
is what the MCA says is correct, most plating shops can do the work. Typically, they charge a minimum fee, so if you are thinking of going that route do some more research and take everything. It will probebly be the same price. I used A-1 Plating in Baltimore, MD and am pleased with their work.

If you live near a Military Base find some of the contractors and talk with them, Uncle Sam has strict guidelines concerning the different types of plating used.

Another way is to use a rattle can, Eastwood offers "detail gray", "cast blast", and others to duplicate "natural" finishes. Good Luck with the restoration.
