Awesome. Living your dream. Glad you were able to "fix" the trade in price. We'll look for some good pictures.

You can pretend your S. McQueen on the streets-of-Indiana!

Haha, racing past the cornfields, eh? I'm very happy with the purchase and I'm pretty sure this is the most excited I've ever been for a car (except for when my 68 came of course ;) ).

I was in Los Angeles last week (filming at Galpin Ford), and was watching the local news in my hotel room, about the L.A. Car Show.

They were showing off two Bullitt Mustangs, and power-spinning "smoke donuts" in the convention parking lot for the cameras. The Bullitt Mustangs have this neat target emblem in the center of the gas cap, too.

I'd hate to be the guy in a black '08 Charger if one of these comes by. Maybe a Bullitt Mustang can "escort" one of those Chargers to the nearest gas station?

....i.e. "hey, thanks, pal! uh--waaa....KA BOOM!!" LOL!

(sick, huh?)

They just showed one on TV at the San Francisco Auto Show (happening until Dec 2, Moscone Center, downtown). The Bullitt variant has a diamond-shaped eggcrate grill with NO lights, and the dash is simulated turned metal surface, and a round "Bullitt" emblem in the center of the steering wheel.

Pretty neat!!

Too bad it doesn't offer a steel plates welded on the underside (like the '68 version) as a "hill jumping" option!! LOL!

p.s. too bad we can't have that Bullitt grille for the 2008 GT/CS, and add some Lucas Lights in front of it....(hear me, Ford??)

I don't get it , The stock GT runs 0-60 in 5.1-5.3 depending on the article you read. The bullit does it 5.1. what about all those engine upgrades the bullit is supposed to have. The GT/CS is a better looking car. I think the Bullit looks like the V6 version of the mustang. The MSRP is $33,000, but you can bet there will be a $3000 to $5000 mark up over MSRP. If you are looking for a collectors mustang wait till the Boss is out in 09, If you are looking for a sleeper get a stock GT and add the FR1 upgrade and a blower Paint it green if you want.

I wonder if they do sell all 7000 of them in 08 if ford will offer this as an 09 option ? I thought the GT/CS was only supposed to be a 07 option so did the dealership I bought it from, oddly it shows up again in 08.

Actually, most dealerships are selling for MSRP ($31,000) or less and all plans are being accepted for it. I got mine almost fully loaded for $29k (x-plan). Also, the 0-60 time is a 5.0 flat in most tests. Which as you know, is dependent upon weather and other factors. The emphasis is in the handling. The bullitt is running the 1.4 mile in approx. 13.2 seconds whereas the GT is doing it in 13.7. Everything I've read on it has been that the car is gold. The interior (GT500 seats, wheel, and more), better shifter, the handling, exhaust sound... lap times are better than the Shelby GT at the miller motorsports track (Ford Racing). Dynos done so far (also very dependent upon temp. and such) are putting it in the mid 270's (273-275rwhp). All this while still retaining a good road ride... unlike the SGT.

The BOSS would be nice, but truthfully, I don't care to have one and THOSE cars will be marked up to death. Most guys on the international bullitt owner's club site are getting their 08's for less than MSRP. I guarantee that they'll all be spoken for by the end of the 08 build season. If not, it will be b/c of the dealerships that are too dumb to realize that no one will buy the car for more than MSRP.

You won't see another run of them b/c the Bullitt is a specific car built to be a SE... which Ford will do a different one every 6-8 months (confirmed in an interview with the designer). Also, the McQueen family and Warner Bros. will not allow another run. I think the only reason why it happened again from 01 is b/c the new bodystyle was so perfect for it.

I won't be convinced of dyno and lap times for sure until tests are done on production vehicles and MANY tests are ran. there are just too many factors to do otherwise.

Well, my order still has no VIN or anything after 6 weeks... I'm agitated. My salesguy is agitated also. No retail orders that I have seen have any VIN assigned except for one or two (I've seen a ton of people that have one on order). Dealers are getting their stock first even though it was stated that retail should be filled first. Now, people are canceling orders as it is taking so long... I agree and I'm about to do the same thing. Luckily, my 07 gt/cs is safe and comfy in the dealership showroom. If I don't get a VIN in the next 2 weeks, I'm canceling, getting my 07 back, and waiting until a used Bullitt comes out.

Most recent dyno in MM:FF puts the car at 288rwhp and 308 torque! And a 13.29 1/4 mile! Very impressive indeed

Wally05 I am sorry to hear that Ford is jerking you around with your attempted purchase of the limited edition “Bullitt “Mustang. It is obvious that you have taken the time to do allot of research on the car. I believe you are wise to consider getting the 07 GT/CS back. I understand the “bullet” has exceptional performance however a GT/CS with the ford racing FR1 and FR3 would be a match in performance. I think Ford understands that very shortly they will not be the only ones in the pony car market. I believe any one ordering the “specialty mustangs” will have a similar issue. I wish you the best of luck in your quest to get the “bullit” Please let use know how things turn out.

Thanks, al. :)

I actually have an update. My salesguy got the regional manager to put a priority 01 on my order! That can only be done by the regional person and it means that the next available unit be built for my order and released on a rush. I'm looking at getting the car in less than 2 weeks! It is usually only done for Ford people or for orders that get messed up in transit.

My GT/CS has been popular in the showroom, I guess. They found a couple buyers that are duking it out for it. So, I may end up with more for a trade-in than we agreed on. :)
