Hello All --- I have lots of questions

A sobering observation As for the 428 - no most don't believe that, most believe it was more - but it was not - it was probably LESS. It is one of the fairy tales that people want to continue to promulgate and believe. Muscle Car Review magazine wanted to find out just exactly what was hype...

    ebay 390 gt/cs UPDATE!!

As with other subjects I have commented on in this forum, all we can do is agree to disagree. Let me put it in a hypothetical situation. Two Shelby GT-500's at auction, identical in condition, color, and options. One is all original matching number drivetrain and original sheetmetal, the...

    ebay 390 gt/cs UPDATE!!

8r01s159387 There is a yellow grease pencil number "6" on the passenger side floorpan seat riser. The 390GT heads are dated November 24, and November 28, and are from a 390 GT Cougar. The block was too far gone. Purchased another "390" that turned out to be a "360", so I used the crank and...

    390 CS on Ebay

Enough of this. I have more info than anybody on this car, much more than the marti report. Before, I was going by memory, I went to my archives last night to pull some hard data, and did find out it was WES-M rear. Again, "too many cars" send me an email if you desire, I have historical pics...

    390 CS on Ebay

I didn't list anything wrong with the car, just what transpired when I had the car. The current seller replaced the front bucket seatcovers. Howdy JB, yes the 8" is original to the car. I have seen no factory documentation where 390's came standard or mandatory with 9" rears. This car...

    390 CS on Ebay

Thanks Dan. I already have, a few minutes after the end of the auction, I emailed the seller to let me know if they back out of it.

    390 CS on Ebay

Actually, if you you delve a little deeper, you will notice bidding went up to 25K on the car, and the extra ten was between two people who put in high bids thinking they would well cover any lower bids by a wide margin - that was not the case for the winning bidder, as I am sure the winner...

    X code or S code

I have also seen a different air cleaner snorkle that is used on the X code 390 cars. It is different from the 390GT, it is unique, and relatively hard to find. Instead of angled forward, it is angle rearward, very similar to the 428CJ and Boss 302 snorkle - and is often mistaken for these...

    Original big block verses non-original

It is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. But, in general, it is worth the current retail price of a "T" code GT/CS, plus the current value of the 428CJ engine. Add these together, and there you have it. In my opinion, keep it a six, next to the 428CJ's, the sixes are the next...

    Dixco Hood Tachometer

Dealer installed, therefore it was not painted body color, but normally installed in its original black color. Could an owner request the dealer paint it body color - of course, if the owner was willing to pay for it. It was available in 1970, and possibly 1969, but not in 1968.

    Vintage factory electronic ignition??

Thanks for the info. It does sound like the California emissions device that y'all spoke of. I did a brief search and it was not where I thought it was, but I will try to find it.

    Vintage factory electronic ignition??

This is a question for Paul Newitt or any others that have something similar. 390GT/CS 4spd., factory GT car originally sold in san fransisco/daly city area. On "my" car, there was a metal "box" mounted on the passenger side shock tower with wires, and I think, a couple of vacuum hoses coming...

    Two simple questions

Uh oh, I got slammed by the big guy (Paul Newitt). After reading my string, it does sound a little harsh. I think what you are trying to say is to "use a candle, not a blowtorch" to get my point across. Yes these are fun cars, and the classic car hobby should be fun and should promote...

    X-Code for sale

I have seen this car. He had on ebay awhile back with pics. It needs a TOTAL restoration. If its the one I'm thinking of - and I am pretty sure it is - it is the definition of a basket case car that is in serious critical condition. Unfortunately, it is a car that you would see in junkyard...

    Two simple questions

I'm not scared to talk you out of it. Don't make a stupid mistake. Unless you have no regard of money or investment hack away. If you modify it, the value of the car will decrease greatly, and I mean in the thousands of dollars. Not only are buyers going to deduct the price of parts, but...

Anybody have pics of Little Red and Green Hornet?

People are apparently confused. Although Little Red is mentioned in the article, Volo claims to have the only one off red 1967 Shelby GT500 conv. See the links below: http://www.volocars.com/news1.html This link has a few more pics...

I have seen a pic of the car at Volo Museum, and it is NOT the real Little Red.

    A/C Woes!

What was rebuilt? The engine or the compressor? The most likely culprit is the alternator regulator (the "square box" bolted on the passenger inner fender well). Does the belt squeal also when this happens - compressor is locking up. What does your wiring harness look like, from the a/c...
