1968 CALIFORNIA SPECIAL

OWNER:Terry D. Goro
EMAIL:tgoro@home.com
YEAR:1968 GT/CS
ENGINE:390-4V 8-cyl (code S)
TRANSMISSION:4 spd (code 5)
COLOR:Diamond Blue (code N)
DSO:B6 (Canada)
LOCATION:Waterloo, Iowa
OPTIONS:GT, PS, PDB, Air
COMMENTS:Documented GT; originally 4 spd. now C6 auto; blue standard interior; originally with deluxe steering wheel now standard; missing GT caps but has the original chrome wheels. The car was purchased from a Texas dealer in 1999; in storage since 1986. Not a restored car but a nice original GT/CS; chrome, interior, carpet etc. are all good to excellent. Has been repainted. The engine and transmission are not original, but both are correct and newly rebuilt. Everything but the radio works. The car does not show a lot of wear. There is still work to be done, but that is the fun part (along with the search). I am looking to gather more info on the history...more to come.

TRANSMISSION:C4 Auto (code W)
COLOR:Wimbleton White (code M)
DSO:72 (San Jose)
LOCATION:Chicago,IL
OPTIONS:Upper/lower consoles, AC
COMMENTS:I bought the car in the Phoenix, Az. area in 1992. It needed an engine rebuild, so I had the engine built over the summer of '92, and then went to Phoenix with some friends to drive it home to Chicago. What a great trip and what a way to break in a fresh motor. The car is in excellent shape and I hope to eventually take it back to Phoenix when I move there. I'm currently trying to put the final touches to it...Air conditioning hook up, and some interior trim options. The car is not a true GT(with GT package), but its still a fun ride. I think I'll keep it!!

COMMENTS:We are the second owners of the GT/CS and it came with all documentation including the dealer window sticker from Downtown Motors Inc in Sacramento, CA. The plastic warranty card is still attached as well as the temporary card, invoices and work orders since day one, automobile registration cards from '68 til present. The car was a daily driver when we purchased it in 1996 and had 28 years of nicks & dents, various shades of paint & of course the California sun had done it's work on the interior. The car has been restored back to mostly original with the exception of radial tires, pertronix ignition, am/fm and steel divider behind the rear seat. I have also added dual exhaust, styled steel wheels, wheel opening mouldings, lower console and two tone paint to the hood. We drive our GT/CS all summer and enjoy every mile.

COMMENTS: I just brought back my ol’ GT/CS from Arizona, where it was purchased from the second owner. She bought it in 1972 and put more than 230,000 miles on it — and kept every single registration slip and maintenance record possible! A real treat to drive and a future restoration project.

COMMENTS: 2nd owner, Found it sitting under a car cover behind a barn. It was in excellent shape, the color that it is now and converted over to a 302. It now has a 418hp 351W, and lowered 1.5 inches with over sized sway bars front and rear. It will have a 67 GT500 replica hood and a midknight blue paint job in a few months. The car isn't stock anymore but it is a real GT/CS and I love it to death. It gets lots of attention here in Wa. state. I take it to numerous car shows and even enter it in the all Ford drags and a few other race events. It won the Mustangs vs Camaros at SIR in '98. Collectors and rare car personnel give me alot of grief over it but I have all the parts to put it back to stock. The car is my daily driver and I wouldn't sell it for the world.
