They didn't say where it came from. Most likely from a deicing airplane wing. (Any pilots here have an explanation?) Good thing he wasn't in his car at the time!

...Pretty unusual for a piece that large to come off a plane, but no doubt that's what it was. I'm sure thay can contact ATC of a local large airport and find out what planes were flying over at that time.
