OK - I have finally finished - I think - the rebuild of my 8" rear-end. I had to chase this a bunch of different ways until I finally figured out what I was doing when setting back lash and case spread. Here are some photos - I included some of the home made bracket for measuring the side bearing pre-load/case spread.

Robert (or any other guru) - if you are out there listening, I would like your thoughts on the final pattern. Thanks!

Good as pattern as I have seen. Dead center on the power side and nearly a mimic on the decompression side. Nice an deep and perfect. Just a tad to the front of the gear on the compression side but that is not adjustable in my mind. You get what you get and the power side is most important.

We can all send our center sections to X-code!!!

Thanks Robert for your confirmation. It took me 5 times until I figured out case spread. After that piece of cake! But if anyone wants to send it in...they might want to wait for me to put a few miles on this one first! :D
