All,
Working on this 1963 Falcon in the roll call thread. It has a 1968 302 short block. VIN on the block is 8R506169. San Jose, High VIN, but who knows maybe someone has the car or truck. I always post when I find them.

Cougar....

Actually a low VIN number. Mercury starts with 500001.

Sometimes the owner is willing to part with something like this for a fair trade across. I tried to match my 428 Cobra Jet and its number match C6 with the 1969 Fairlane it came out of. But no one new where the car was. I think it was crushed years ago.

Anyway maybe the 1968 Cougar this came out of is still around?

I will send in that VIN into the Cougar National Database. I'll let you know Robert.

I have a 68 j code. Could anyone please tell me where the VIN is located on the block. I am trying to determine if the car has it's original engine. Thanks for your help.

Tim,
It is on a flat spot directly behind the intake manifold, on the top left of the block. Imagine both heads off th engine. It is on the drivers side of the block, against the firewall, but facing straight up. If you lay over the enigine and shove your head right behind the left valve cover and a vit towrds the center of the engine, you can see it.
