Power Brake System

I'm contemplating converting to power brakes. The car has standard drums now, and I'm thinking of keeping the drum brakes & adding a P/B Booster. Has anyone tried this setup, and if so, what would be the best way to go? The front disc configuration/conversion is kind of pricey, and I think the power drums would work OK. Any suggestions?

Neil,
I bought a disc conversion for my 57 Station Wagon from MPB. I was not totally satisfied with their service. I hd trouble with the vacuum assist cyclinder and they gave me a bit of a run around. Finally got it to work.

Power drum brakes were an option, but you know that. I would bet with some of "yesterdays" brake lining compounds they would work great.

Not sure of your opinion on brake lining materials. They have very hard materials that last a long time, but grind away the drums or discs. I prefer the older softer compounds that may wear quicker but are not so harsh on the drums. They seem to grab better, but may fade quicker. But I am not an autocrosser! I want one good panic stop. the soft ones will do that.

But you know all this. A bet a power assist would allow for less pedal effort and give you a great stop with drums!
