HCS carb question

I have two cars one is my 68 HCS and the other a 68 Ranchero bolth with I6's. Now most of the Mustangs I've seen with either the 170 or the 200 motors have 1100 1v carbs I think their Carters. On my HCS I have Holley 1v I think it's a 1940 model or 1941. I've also noticed the manifold intake openings differ the 1100 has an 1 1/2 opening and the holley 1 3/4. The parts store shows Mustangs comming with either. My question is why the differance in heads and carbs and the +'s and -'s to the two.

My Garage
My reference says that the carburetor for a 1968 Mustang/Fairlane/Torino with 200 in. engine all had Ford Autolite 1100's with a 1.10" venturi.
C8OF-A for manual transmission, C8OF-B for automatic.

A notation says 170 for 1964 1/2 only, 200 inch there after.

1966-67 1V carburetors had a 1.20" venturi, a little bigger.

This is from my Pony Carburetor book. Hope it helps.

Holley's were factory installed on Ford/Mercury's from 1955-1962.
Ford used Carter YF 1V's starting in 1967 on 170 and 200 inch engines calibrated for California emissions. 1968 and 1969 only installed on 170 and 240 inch engines. (200's got the Autolite 1100).
