side reflectors, side scoop

recently I purchase my 1968 California special which is all original even the original markings on the fenders are in the car, but I is missing one of the Lower scoop (driver side I have it but is broken and non repairable)
do you know where i might find it. I live in gardena california and the car is original from torrance, ca. I am the second owner original owner died and left the car to her daugher.
also need to ask does california special came with the reflectors that are painted to the body or with the ones chrome or both.

Re:side reflectors, side scoop

If you are looking for an original scoop those are pretty tough to find but many Mustang parts suppliers carry aftermarket scoops. Mustangs Unlimited seems to have a pretty good reproduction scoop. I think Rebel Mustang is another vendor.

The rear reflector could be either style, depending on when the car was built.

Re:side reflectors, side scoop

Tony Branda out of Pennsylvania & Mustangs Unlimited are good sources for Shelby & California Special parts....I've used both with success.

Rear side reflectors could be either style depending on when your car was manufactured. You say you're the
2nd owner of your car........that's fantastic.
Good luck with it.

Here is a string in which we discussed scoops and vendors. Hope it helps.

Re:side reflectors, side scoop

I have a LH Driver's side scoop that I believe to be original. Problem is that it is on my car, but upside down on the RH passenger's side (it was like that when I bought the car 2 months ago). If you come across an original RH scoop, I'd gladly trade the LH scoop OR if you know of someone selling a RH scoop, I'd gladly buy it and and sell you my LH for that price. I know this doesn't help too much, but my upside down scoop is still better than no scoop at all so, I 'm not too ready to part with it just yet.

Contact me at mhop2@juno.com and we can talk.

Re:side reflectors, side scoop

One of the side scoops on my GT/CS was damaged, broken in half. Crook Brothers Body Shop, 8112 Firestone Blvd, Downey Ca. 562-622-9899 did the repair work on it, as well as the taillight panel, which was also broken. This repair was featured in the Sept. 01 issue of Mustang illustrated. Carlos Perez did the work. You might give them a call. You can't tell mine was ever broken, I should note some of the mounting lip of the TL panel was missing, and he filled it in. Call them, it's worth a phone call. 8) Mike
PS, I also have a 57 Cameo

Re:side reflectors, side scoop

CS68, for proper replacement scoops for our cars, I've been buying them from a store here in the Denver area called Colorado Mustang Specialists at 303-343-7024. I believe they are $55.00 each and I know they have the proper witness line on them. hicountry Bob Teets here.

Re:side reflectors, side scoop

Arlie, yes, Colorado Mustang is the most interesting Mustang stop that one could wander thru. Even as dated as this picture is, there are still many interesting builders in there (COLORADO MUSTANG0) yet, ie. playboy pink '67 rag, I believe, 6 to 8 hcs and cs, and fewer fastbacks than this picture shows. Interesting enough, many have the door tags wired to the light switch or dash structure above the steering area. This "compound" is actually a few miles east of their main store and restoration facility and is by "invite" only, as this is not a walk up, tour or buy yard but when you've stopped at the main store and ask, once you get on site, one will drive you thru on a nice golf cart and they know exactly where "your" car of interest is located. hicountry Bob Teets here.
