Jason;
It's got to be those "gold cadium bolts" they used in the restoration I'm sure. Heck for that kind of money I'd be looking for a Shelby Big Block.

Re:Talk about Sticker Shock!!!!

I flew from California to the east coast to look at this car last week. It is truely a remarkable car. You will never find a better restored car than this in my opinion. Even if you had the money to restore this car, the NOS parts just aren't available any more. You probably couldn't restore it at any cost now. Ken used up his stash of NOS parts 15-years ago doing this car. Sure, the price is high, but it's an amazing car. They only made 11 4-speed CJ convertibles (I think). If I hadn't bought another car out of the collection, I'd have bought this one. It's that nice. Jason, give me a call at home, you should really consider this car.

This must be a very nice car, but if you prefer a fastback, and less than 1/3 the price, then check this one out:

Jason: you can have this one and another BB CS like you said ;).

Mustanger;
Much more reasonably priced and a fastback to boot. Guess which one I'd go for.

I am fairly certain that CJ has been sold. It was also advertised in Ford and Mustang Trader magazine.

Jason, any thoughts on what a restored CJ coupe should sell for on the open market?

depends on the level of restoration.

coupes:
top notch resto $80k
fairly nice resto $60-70k
original in decent shape $45-55k

These are based on what I have heard of trading hands and published/advertised prices

BTW if anyone finds a restorable one for $25k please call me. ;D

You mean a typo with an extra 1 and the 2 and the 7 transposed. I could get a Shelby and a Boss for that kind of money.

I think I'm going to ask a bazillion trillion million for my car when it's done.

Notice that these guys asking a billion trillion zillion for their cars always reference the Marti report data: "1 of 8 convert., 2 of 8 4 spd. etc.". Seems like the thinking is that so dang few of my model was made that someone will pay big bucks for it.

the difference is when you can confirm a high powered/highly desirable car a low number compared to finding some wierd option combination on a 289 V-8 car and call it one of one. I know which one I would prefer.

Re:Talk about Sticker Shock!!!!

With the price of gasoline going through the roof we may probably assume that high mpg cars will sell well for the next few years. And since higher mpg will probably equate to lower hp will the demand for older big blocks increase or decrease? I think demand, and prices, will increase when the market is flooded with underpowered grocery-getters.
