Pictures for Pau's new book....?

Hey guys,

I need to take pictures for the new registry and get them into Paul. Anyone familiar with photagraphy? I have a technical question. I've always taken pictures of cars with wide angle lenses. Is this correct, or should I use a zoom lense and zoom in? Should I use my polorizing filter?

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

Here's a link to site that points out just about everything I was doing wrong with my photo attemps. I think it has something to do with light.

http://www.cobracountry.com/fototips/home.html

Read that, then flip through some of the gallery pics and you'll see what this guy is talking about. One of the tips he gives is to shoot at dusk or when its overcast. Some my favorite shots of the Stevenson's car were taken when it was overcast and they look great!

Somewere in the link the author talks about zoom lens and filters as well.

Re:Pictures for Pau's new book....?

Brian,

Thanks for the link. I was going to take my oictures this evening at dusk, in fact, I already knew about the dawn / dusk lighting. I didn't know about the forced flash and to use a 50mm to not have any distortion. I'll be using a Nikon D70 with the 18 - 70 lens that came with it. I'll pick up a polorizer for that lens as I only have one for my telephoto lens.

This is a great link guys, lot's of good info about shooting cars.

On the link of the cobra site you provided, spin back through the pics (about midway down the page) and see if you can find a cobra you have been in!!!!

Now that's too funny! :) I totally blew by the picture credit. I had no idea that was a Cobra out of the Stevenson stables. :o

On the other hand, it was that trip around the lake in the Cobra that got me poking around Cobra sites in the first place! ;)[/quote]
