Seeing that all of you are the restoration specialists here where would be a good place to find affordable good parts. So far the farthest i'v gotten has been CJ's pony parts and KARmustang. So any feedback would be appreciated.

Seeing as how I'm located in Columbus, I've gotten most of my parts from KAR. They've helped me put two cars back together. Most everywere else by the time I pay for shipping doesn't make sense for me to get parts any place else, their prices are competitive. Plus the staff there George, Kevin and Bob are very knowledgeable folks. You can also try the following:

NPD: http://www.npdlink.com/

Mustangs Unlimited: http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/

Year One: http://www.yearone.com/

Hope this helps.

I've had the best luck with Year One but there's a lot of stuff they don't have. I got a right front inner fender from Mustangs Unlimited that was so out of square I had to cut it apart and weld it back together but I think everyone gets their panels from the same manufacturer. The last order I got from NPD was 1/2 wrong and I had to send it back. No one seems to be perfect, it's just part of the game. Shipping will kill you. I just bought $500.00 worth of parts and had to pay $105.00 in shipping because some were oversized.

Not sure how far you are from Altoona, Pa., but Tony Branda Performance will help you out tremendously, and they know just about everything about what you'll need for a GT/CS (HCS) restoration.

We have been working on our GT/CS for over a year and have bought most of our parts from parts places. I have used Mustangs Unlimted and NPD for most parts. Decklids and rear quarter extensions came from Branda. Branda seems to have the most knowledge when it comes to questions about fit. But overall, we have been very happy with the quality of parts.

We also have gotten to know our UPS delivery guy so well we are adding him to our Christmas card list. ;D

I have had super luck with Virginia Classic Mustangs. Shipping is incredibly fast, they seem to always have the right parts that I need, and they are very knowledgeable. Have them send you a catalog and check them out. I have found their prices to be among the lowest between Mustangs Plus and CJ Pony Parts. (Although to be fair, I have not had any real issues with either of these places, they are good also, just a tad more expensive I think.) VA Classic Mustang can be reached at 540-896-2695. No 800 number and they don't take AMEX to keep the costs down. Hope this helps!

I'm going to retract my earlier dismissal of Mustangs Unlimited faults. I got my last order a week ago and they lied to me on a discount that was offered, wouldn't fix it and didn't even give me the call back they promised. The first time I ordered from them the part was junk and they wouldn't deal with it, I gave them a second chance and they stroked me again. I'm not using them a third time.

I agree that Mustangs Unlimted could be that way. We just have never experienced it yet. We are probably more lucky than we know.

How is your car going? Is it painted? Waiting to see pics.

Oh man, I'm going nuts waiting. They painted the car but messed up the rt. fender, so they need to redo it. They put me on the back burner again to get all their other work out before Thanksgiving. It's so close to being done it's killing me. I can't cry to loud though because they give me a $15.00 hr. break on labor because I let them work on mine as a filler car.
