1999 GT/California Special

Hey folks check out this link for grins and chuckles. This guy is advertising a set of wheels and tires for sale that they state came off a 1999 GT/California Special. Has Ford produced another GT/California Special and no one noticed.

I was in New Mexico a few years ago (2000) and visited a ford dealership. They had about 10 "California Specials" on the lot. I asked the dealer about it and he said it was simply a decal kit that gets installed at the dealership. I asked if they had ford's blessing and he couldn't understand why I was asking that. I told him about the '68 special and he said " oh, its not like that, this is just a thing some local dealers are doing". So maybe that is the 1999 GT/CS this guy is talking about.
