Here is an article from the September 1992 issue of Mustang Monthly that shows how to detail a 289 Hi-Po. Hopefully the basics apply to our cars. Even if someone tells us that it's not 100% correct at least the pictures are fun to look at.

Click on the thumbnail, then click on the image that comes up. Or right click on the thumbnail and save it to your computer.

Since this topic has been revisited I would suggest that the article not be followed fully if your looking for a concours finish.Though Jim did a great job on the engine and article the information is 17 years old or more and could use some updating.

As one example the exhaust manifolds are much lighter in color than what most of us do now and the do not look as if (blue overspray) they were on the engine when it was painted.

Now if your not looking at showing or going the concours route - follow away - the finished product will look great

If you are using a spray bomb Rustoleum semi gloss black works well. Marty

Here are a couple pictures of an engine I detailed about a year ago...not the greatest, but you should get the idea. Some of the details were just mocked up and not the completed detailing.
