- Suspension & stuff
- This caught my eye. The lower ball joint boot seems to be completely blown out. I didn't check to see if the ball joints were original, sorry.
- Driver's quarter
- Rear - the passenger taillight lens is cracked
- Passenger side
- Passenger front
- Driver front
- Driver side

I have many other pictures. If anyone is interested in them let me know. It might be good to let me know what you want to see rather than sending all of them.

Here's my take on it.

I don't think this car has only 9000 miles. There are a lot of things that argue for it, like the trunk mat, the cardboard taillight covers, the condition of the chrome, and the engine parts all being there. But, I think the car was restored at some point, and restored quite well, except for a couple unfortunate paint prep mistakes.

Most of the pictures I posted are of problems so it may look like the car is falling apart. That couldn't be further from the case. I tried to show a prospective owner what he or she will need to deal with, small or large, and bad things just stand out more than good things.

This is a beautiful car but it will need some work to be a show car. IMHO to do it right all the new paint should be removed and new paint applied.

With a few paint touch-ups (driver's door rust, passenger chip, bubbles) it would make a fantastic driver, for someone who can afford the gas.

The car seems solid. Floors, frame rails, trunk floor, everything is rust free. I did not remove the battery so I can't say how the tray looks.

I hope this helps someone make an informed bid.

did the AC work and if so was it cold or cool? Leak coming from rear main seal?

Air cleaner has me puzzled. "vent" connected to the oil cap seems wrong, most I have seen have a flapper valve on that side like mine.

heat shield looks like it is connected to the bottom of the s tube.

BTW the car is in the 96 registry

Nice car yes - but the issues will prevent me from bidding.
Arlie , thanks a bunch for the info - but there is just to many weird quirks with this car to pay over $30k for it.

All yours doug

Jason, I don't know about the air, never thought to turn it on.

There is a lot of some kind of fluid coating the bottom of the engine and the steering but no drips. My 1st guess about leaks on a PS car is power steering fluid.

A few things I forgot to mention

As shown in one of the 1st pictures the dash pad has pulled away at the passenger side bottom, near the AC duct.

I could not tell is the windshield was original due to all the stickers on it but the bottom driver's corner is cracked.

The water pump is painted blue. I think it should be natural if it's original.

It has the under-dash lights that illuminate when a door is opened

The gaps between the body panels are amazing. Someone spent a lot of time getting all the gaps even and uniform.

It has a Holley carb

Thanks for the report Arlie.

The first thing I noticed was the side stripes.
I would like to see a Marti on this one.

Arlie, your attention for detail is helpful to all of us.

So, I notice one thing that has been brought up before. Do the holes for the wires of the hood turn signals have grommets. Few cars I have seen have them. So, did some have them, and some not? Or did all have them, and most lost them over time?

Thanks Casey.

Both of the grommets on this car were out of the holes and hanging on the wires so my guess is that in general they didn't fit well and kept falling out so the owners trashed them. Does anyone have a parts book they can use to check the part number I posted. G-4053-147. I don't even know if it's a Ford part #.

The Marti report shows standard black interior, but the car has a black decor interior. Odd.

I am still interested in selling the car...is 30K a reasonable price or is it over priced?

What do you make of this? Was (is) it common to find cars with a Marti report showing standard interior and than the car shows up with decor interior? Maybe the dealer swapped it out when it was originally sold. As I was once told it is "all in the details". As nice as this car seems something just doesn't add up - I still like it. I guess that a lot could happen in 39+ years; I just would like to know.

a much easier explanation.......

a previous owner replaced the intereior with a deluxe interior. The rear quarter panels have been recovered (dead giveaway for a restoration).

Casey, these little grommets have been a " BIG THING" to me for years. So, 2-3 years ago I asked Dan Dunning, owner of Colorado Mustang Specialists here in the Denver area, about them and he said that he had never seen these on '68 Mustangs on any of the those he has parted out over the years but has seen them on many '67's. SO, I guess we need to ask the MCA powers about them. I have installed them on all my '67s and '68's over the years, because I think they "clean up" the underside of the hoods. In fact, I paid $40.00 for a pair this past year on an Ebay purchase for my Cal Sp. AS A SIDE NOTE, this past weekend at the annual Mustang Roundup Show at Steamboat Springs Co., I noticed that the repo turn signal hoods had NO HOLES FOR THESE LITTLE GROMMETS and the wires hung loose and on one car, holes were drilled for surface mounting brackets to keep the wire up against the bottom side of the hood. What a mess!!!! Otherwise ( I Did LOOK AT EVERY '67 AND '68 CAR), I noted that some '67 and some '68 cars had grommets but most had none. FYI, See ya, bud. HC Bob here.
