after a very long time of searching i finally found some grey foam with an adhesive backing that i can use to replicate the 2 foam pads that are under the gt/cs decklid at the spoiler (page 97 of the 1996 registry book).
i am willing to share my find with all of you if you're interested. all i ask for is a self addressed STAMPED envelope from you. the foam comes as a 3" X 5" piece and you will have to cut it to size yourself. in a previous post, i had asked if anyone had the original size. i was given this: length- 4.5", width- 7/8", thickness-3/16". i used a very sharp razor blade to cut mine and they look great! right now i have about 12 extras, first come first serve. i will try and get more if i run out.
i will post a couple of picture links. the pic of the one that is installed on my gt/cs is very light due to the flash. it is actually a dark grey as you will se in the other pic. if you have any questions, e-mail me. Talan423@aol.com

Tom, you need to be logged in to post pictures. You're posting as a guest at the moment.

Although you would still need to resize your photos since they're too big to upload.

What is the purpose of this foam? Does it protect something on the quarter ext.? I put the HCS/CS style decklid on my '66 and am wondering if I actually need this piece, or if it's just for those of you wanting the correct look. ???

It was used to stop the trunk lid from banging and rattling against the endcaps and lower light panel. The Shelby used a bolt with a rubber top as a stop but the CS did not. I believe the Shelby's bolt/rubber knobs where also used to align the trunk lid with the end caps.

Awww, Thanks. I probably ought to get some then, but I won't be needing it for awhile. I still need to paint the car. ::) :-\
