Okay please excuse my ignorance – but when exactly should these lights work? Are they running lights, turn indicators or what? The light in question is the ones on the side and just below the front bumper. Thanks, Doug

Pretty sure they are tied to the headlight switch so whenever the headlights or parking lights are on those lights should also be on. They should not be tied to the turn signals.

1968 Ford Mortor Company Lifeguard Design Safety Features, has the lights as Side marker lights. They turn on with first pull out headlight switch, parking lights ( both front turn signal and tail lights) also come on. They stay on when headlights come on also. They were a new safty feature to Mustang in 1968.

Correct. They are 'side marker lights'. They are ON whenever the headlights or parking lights are ON. Not connected to the turn signals (single element bulbs).
