New to group, question on block VIN#

I just bought a CS and noticed that the vin on the
block is off by two digits (car's last 3 is 112, block is
110). I figure this has to have been a mistake at the
factory or it wouldn't be so close. Has anyone heard
of this happening before?

n.id.steve,
I have not seen one but I have heard of it before. I believe they have had articles in Mustang Monthly about oddities including VIN # mismatches. Do you have any history on the car, maybe ask the prior owner about the engine? I do agree with you that it would be a rare to find a replacement block that was only 2 digits away from the cars.

Thanks for the info. I have very little history. I bought
the CS and a 71 Boss 351 from two brothers that had
aspirations of restoring them. The only thing I could
find out was the car was purchased from a person going
through a divorce back in '95 and has been sitting with
the engine and tranny in the trunk ever since. By the
way, what's with the "I'm a Llama" quote next to my
post. I want to be higher on the food chain.
