I was the one suggesting we have a GT/CS on the cover of the Shelby American.

Angry Paul's comments from the SAAC site.

I was wondering about the "diss" from Paul regarding our CS forum here. I take offense to the "character" of our site. Here is his statement in quotes. As far as I'm concerned, good riddance!

"I'd be happy to do an article about the CS for Shelby American. However that works within the publication's scheduling.

Yes-- the CS.com site is interesting...but I'm no longer participating on the message boards. Seven years, and 2,670 posts. All I'll say is that the "character" of that site is different than here. I like being here....shoulda been here long before now.

Thanks to everyone welcoming me here.

(and..oh...that Martini is a little too dry, bring me another one!! Gosh,
what does a guy have to do 'round here??? )

Paul. "

Hi All,

I was hoping to keep this thread about SAAC.

Most of you know I try to stick to topics relating to our GT/CS and HCS, and have worked hard to learn more and to let more people know about our unique car in many different ways. I am hoping we can do that with SAAC, and make some friends there too.

Casey

Casey, I agree with you!
It's not my intent to stir up the pot.
You're a class act by staying away from the negative stuff, sorry for bringing my comments into your topic, but that comment did not set well with me. Keep up the good work!

Steve, I am sure that it is going to be a short honeymoon.

Casey, you edited that one line in your post before I could respond.
Folks are going to continue to comment about Paul.
Like it or not he is a topic associated with the GT/CS & HCS, now and forever.

Casey, it wasn't my intent to change the topic of your thread. I've stayed out of the fray regarding Tim and Paul and I haven't taken sides either way. I do think that Paul "went negative" on us and our website with his comments on SAAC. I think the fine folks of the CS family deserve to know what Paul thinks of us.

As I see it anybody who slams this site should not profit from its members; one might say “don’t bite the hand that feeds you”.

Hey there,

I will say this. I am a member of SAAC, MCA, and Team Shelby. I have always been interested in GT CS' and High Country Specials. I was always hoping these cars would come together. Not sure of the personal history but what you will find on the SAAC site is guys with more mustang knowledge, shelby knowledge, 289,302, 390, and 428 knowledge than anywhere. There is enough information there to keep you busy for a long time. It's all about the cars, the shows, and the hobby If you ask a question, people pounce on it with an answer just like here. I just joined this site today because I saw the posts on the SAAC forum. I will buy a CS or HCS or both in the next 30 days, doing all my research now. All good knowledgeable guys over there that are happy to help.

Well said Casey and I totally agree. Let's stay on topic and move forward rather than backward.

Thanks!

What exactly does, "SAAC has now added the GT/CS to their site..." mean, in specific terms.

I know some people aren't into SAAC and I dont mean to imply everybody should be. But, I was always hoping SAAC would some day recognize our unique car for its Shelby heritage and now it has happened. Rich Kopek, SAAC Director, was the first one to post. I added a few things too.

This is another cool way for our cars to be associated and become known by the public - first it was MCA taking a big interest in us and even changing their judging rules for us, and now by SAAC taking interest in us.

It's neat to mingle with the Shelby folk and read some of their inputs too - especially as the GT/CS uses the exact same parts as the 68 Shelby (remember, from the blueprints I found online a few years ago).

Anyway, if it's your kind of thing, go check it out:

Thanks, Casey

Hi Arlie, I don't for sure what it all means yet. I know they have added GT/CS & HCS to the forum and are planning a cover page and article for an upcoming Shelby American Magazine. We are also included to come and be a part of the SAAC convention. Rick Kopec, SAAC Director, opened the door for the opportunities to participate at all levels. As for registry, Paul is recognized as the GT/CS registrar both at this site and at SAAC - he has a long history with SAAC, including helping to discover the Green Hornet.

Capt Dave,
Thanks for the welcome. Jon, our admin guy and site designer, has built the number 1 site for the preservation and history of the GT/CS. Many (myself a 1968 GT-500 KR in the mid 1970’s. Yes I kick myself daily) had the pleasure of owning a Shelby sometime in their career. And this site has many original owners. John McGilvary is the original owner (truly amazing) of a 428 CJ GT/CS. But, I bet your site has some original owners also. Casey is starting a collection of a lot of great stuff on the GT/CS. Sometimes an original owner can confirm that obscure factory bolt or deviation. Especially in 1968 cars with rare drive trains.

What a great step to join the GT/CS with the Shelby lineage. Both old and new! We have purist and modified guys. A couple guys pushing their cars into the tens!! But what we really have a site full of enthusiasm for Fords!! I bleed Ford blue as do many others.

Paul is the best guy to write your story! He has the most history on the GT/CS. He has worked relentlessly over the years to document it from inception to the new cars. We as GT/CS owners deeply appreciate his efforts.

One area besides history, is in-depth help on the idiosyncrasies of the older cars. We have engine builders, electrical specialists, modified engine guys, carburetor specialists, (I assist a nation wide restorer of Shelby’s out of Bremerton Washington to tune in both FE and Windsor motors and re-bush/rebuild Holley carbs). One member (MechanicalGuy) has actual Ford assembly line experience in his past. Feel free to tell your members to post a question. You will find sincere help to the best of our knowledge and ability. I personally love the tough problem and will respond as best I can.

Thanks for opening the door between the two sites!! We all share a common thread! Performance FORDS!!

Rob
