what is the number of the spark plug for a 289 not hipo i have a set but don,t know if they fit BF42 or 43 Thanks Tom

BF-42 for almost all Ford motors. Most high performance Ford motors used a one step colder, BF-32.

How does a 42 differ from a 45, other than being 3 less?

Same plug just a newer branding so to speak. BF-45 are the newer version of the old BF-42.

Rob checked the plugs again and they say BF 42C does it make any diff? Thanks Tom

BF42C, C = copper core. BSF42C S= Suppressor, supposedly less radio frequency interference. Replacements for a BF42 in function and use.

As noted the 45 is a Autolite replacement for the Motorcraft 42... Autolite can't reuse the Motorcraft numbers, same plug, different OEM ...
