1st number: month
2nd number: day
3rd (or fourth number in your pic): shift
Last 4th digit: plant
Not sure what the 7 means though. Brain fart

Great thanks!

So if I understand correctly the front quarters would be"
March 28 and April 3?
I'm a bit confused since once quarter has five characters and one has four.

Thanks

Ya I'm seeing that 7 too and I'm not sure what it is. But as I see march 28th and april 31st. Not sure why the span of time but perhaps the fender was changed due to a wreck?

April doesn't have 31 days and that is confusing me. If the first "4" wasn't there in the one pic then the dates would be 3/17 and 3/28/ The plant is the same "d". The rear quarters are: 3/17 and 4/2 but the plant codes is "w".

Haha I see my typo. my mistake(typing on my phone ) well "d" is desrborn and w is woodhaven michigan
So that makes me wonder what the 17 is? (Not 31;-)

Edit: so my cal goes as follows:
Front pass fender 2-8-2d
(Driver is non original I assume because this car was wrecked in the 80's so won't waste time here)
Pass 1/4: 2-7-3w
Driver 1/4 2-14-3w

"D" = Location (optinal not on all parts). Locations are;
A = Chicago, IL
B = Buffalo, NY
C = Cleveland (Walton Hills), OH
D = Dearborn, MI
M = Monroe, MI
W = Woodhaven, MI

The 4 31 7 could be a mis stamp, 3 17? Not sure why a stray 4 would be there?

So looking at the stamp again, perhaps it was meant to be 4/17 and the "3" which is not fully struck was the error. You can see that if the three was not there the spacing between characters would be the same as on the other quarter panels 4 17 2D.

This is interesting.
