How Rare is a GT/CS & HCS

At shows I tell people that the GT/CS was developed by Shelby, built by FORD, and more rare than a Shelby or a Boss Mustang. Here are the numbers:

Number Shelbys Built from 65-70: ~13,971
Number Shelbys Built in 1968: ~4450

Number of Boss Mustangs Built ~6404 (as best as I could find, this is the number). Boss 302 (~3240), Boss 429 (~1357), Boss 351 (1807)

Number of Cal Specials Built (one year only): ~3867 plus 251 HCS's, total ~4118

This makes the Cal Special (and HCS) more rare than a Shelby or a Boss. Casey

I got the numbers from different web site registries. However, using the first site Arlie sent, it looks like I may have missed something on the Boss 302 numbers. The Boss 302 registry gave me the number I stated, but the other site from Arlie says there were 8641 of them.

So, a total of ~11,805 Boss Mustangs. Which even makes our case more striking for the GT/CS rarity.Casey

I don't if those are trustworthy sites or numbers. I just Googled, "Mustang production Figures" and those are a couple of the sites that popped up.

I think the accepted number for Boss 351 production is 1806, only 1 different but ..... Anyway, not to detract from our CS's but since the Boss 351 was also 1 year only and a different body from the 302's and 429's, technically, I would say that makes it rarer. 9 out of 10 people like the 68 body style more though.

Paul's 1996 book stated approximately 2000 GT/CS's remain. Anyone know the approximate number as of today?
