Historical Prices

OK I have no time on my hand so why not take on something else...

I want to come up with an historical record of GT/CS and HCS sales. I'm thinking of something like this...

Historical Prices of GT/CS and HCS Mustangs
Date Sold - 1/1/2008
Year - 1968
Type - GT/CS
Color - Acapulco Blue
GT - No
Engine - 289
Transmission - Auto
Type of Sale - Private
Condition - 2 (Condition is on a scale of 1 to 6 with 1 being top condition and 6 being a parts car)
Selling Price $50,000

If everyone is interested I wouldn't mind doing this.
If you have info you want to submit to me I'll keep it anonymous - just PM me the info. I don't need to know if you sold it or bought it or saw it on eBAy. It would be helpful to get the info on the selling price mainly and some other info like above.

Other suggestions on data to capture would be good too.

I'll look back to some old info I have as well and add it.

If you guys think it's worth it let me know and I'll start a report like this and post it periodically.

Would be interesting to see the trends over time I think.

Great idea Rich! I'll PM mine to you. Also - I believe Arlie was doing this a couple of years ago w/ tracking all of the Ebay sales. I seem to remember a lengthy list...

Rich: Great idea! What about having an additional line for "appraised value"?
I don't plan on selling my car anytime soon, if ever. But, my insurance agent has insured my car on an "agreed value" with the request to eventually have an appraisal to make sure it's adequately insured. A current appraisal could be compared with future appraisals that might show upward trends or a flat line in values. Just my thoughts.

Are you sure you want a "appraised value" since most appraiser's are "paid liars"? Just ask anyone in the real estate business!

I do not see where an appraised value would add anything to the discussion since an appraisal is an opinion, not a market fact that presents patterns of "real" sales and therefore "real" market values based upon condition of the car and geographic location.

The Camaro guys have the Camaro Research Group which pools all the information into one source. Many of the posters on Camaro.org will post the information (trim tag, vin, location and price) on the site as there are numerous enthusiasts that have databases with this information. It is very easy for them to track cars over the years and also see how particular cars "transform" into something they are not!

I've received a number of PMs already so I'm going to pursue this.

I recall Arlie doing something in the past, if you still have it Arlie I'll add it in.

I don't mind adding a column for appraise value but I agree it's a number that could vary greatly and not everyone may have that. I'll add it if someone sends it.

Also - please note that for condition of 1-5 I'm using 1 as the highest (best condition).

Thanks!

...With time & accumulation, it could make a good "sticky" for quick reference. I like the idea of concise pooling of research as well.

Sounds great . Are you only doing prices in the U.S or world wide as I have seen 2 c/s's sold here down under in the last few months and will be happy to keep you posted if I see anything. Sales of c/s's are pretty rare though.

I'll take whatever I can get and just mark the dollars appropriately.

Until my life got a little too complicated.

I'll see if I can find my data and send it to Rich.

I agree with you totally. My insurance company has my CS insured for an agreed upon price of $60,000.00. Based on that I've never really cared to much about getting it appraised.

Was there any specific criteria used for condition with the prior list? Would "5" be a parts car or still mechanically functional?

If we use something similar to the Old Car Price Guide scale it is from 1 to 6 with 6 being a parts car

Got it Arlie, Thanks!

I have about 20 cars already that were sold over the last 3 years.

I have the full set of the Hemmings Mustang Market and Tech Guide so I'll pull some from there too.

Thanks to everyone that submitted info so far.
