1968 Shock color

Can anyone tell me what color the shocks should be on my Special. In the new recognition guide on page 155 it shows them to be black, but I think that is for the 9" rear end. When I looked in the NPD catalog it shows they are red. The ones I took off were red but just want to make sure. Thanks for any info.

All four original Ford shocks were semi gloss black. Most small blocks that did not have heavy duty suspension had red paint dabs.
