Hi Gang,

This may be somewhat off topic for this forum, but here goes:

I am seeking information on the 40th Aniversary Mustangs. I am pretty sure all 2004 Mustangs had a 40 Aniv badge on them. I also know there is a 40th Aniv option.

How can I tell if a 2004 Mustang had that 40th Aniv option? Is there anybody
or any source that can tell me how many 2004 Mustangs came with the 40th Aniv option? Just how rare (if at all ) are the 2004 Mustangs with the Aniv option?

Your thought's, comments, & opinion's please - THANKS. Dave

What you might do is to have the Service Advisor at the dealership run an HVBoM report to see if your has the 40th Option. I did a report on a friends 2004 V6 Mustang and the option for the badge is this:

SALES BADGE AB5DF 40TH ANNIVERSARY BADGE

Here is some details on the special package:

In anticipation of next year’s milestone, every 2004 Mustang will have
40th Anniversary badges on the front fenders. The all-new 40th
Anniversary Package offers performance-oriented exterior and interior
upgrades to V-6 and GT models. Exterior enhancements include
Arizona Beige Metallic performance stripes on the hood, lower rocker
panels and decklid complemented by upgraded wheels (16-inch for
the V-6 and 17-inch Bullitt wheels for the GT) with a special Arizona
Beige Metallic accent.

The special 40th Anniversary models are available in an exclusive
Crimson Red exterior, as well as Black and Oxford White, with bodycolored,
fold-in side mirrors and a Medium Parchment interior. The
cars offer as standard the interior upgrade package that includes a
four-way head restraint, painted center console surround and shifter
bezel in metallic gray, along with brushed aluminum door lock knobs,
shift boot trim ring and pedals. The special interior also includes
unique floor mats with an embroidered 40th Anniversary logo and a
matching badge on the center console. Convertible models offer an
upgraded Medium Parchment soft retractable top that’s more durable
and sound resistant. These limited-edition models will be available at
the beginning of the 2004 model year.

Thanks for the information. I do not own one of the 40th Aniv cars - jus thinkin about it.

Is there a particular digit or space on the VIN that tels me it has the 40th Aniv option?

Thanks, Dave

I don't think there is a digit in the VIN that will show you if the car is an 40th Anniv. car you would have to get the HVBoM report to see the feature code since the package is an option and not a model.
