Is this a professionally filmed restoration, back yard restoration, in my garage restoration videoed with your super 8 home video recorder? I guess what I would need before I would email and reserve a video would be to know a little bit of your credentials both in auto restoration as well as how the video was filmed.

Do you have other restoration videos that we could question owners of the video as to it's quality?

Oh, and a price?

You ask some very valid questions. Maybe it would be possible for someone from our website to personally review the restoration video and make an assessment to members? As we have always said on many of our post - buyer beware. Just a thought.

That's a great idea Don. If he were to offer a video to one of the key members of the sight for review and assuming the review went good it would certainly increase sales to have the backing of a neutral member here. I'd suggest Jon or Paul, I'd believe anything they said ;D well almost anything.

How about we do this - Yes I'm volunteering peoples time and I appoligize for that but, I think we all can benifit from this one. Have Paul, Highcountry Bob, or Doug (Sunlitgold) review this restoration video and tell us what they think of it. They are by far the most knowldgeable of any of us. If it's that good I would think there would be no problem. Hey guys you up for this one?

Hey, hotrod69dfw: Are you willing to let this video be reviewed by the above individuals if they agree to such a review? Please let us know what your feelings are. We await your reply.

Don ;)

Hey Guys,
Thank you for all of your e-mails and responses. The current run of video sets that I'm having made have just sold out. For those that where unable to make it in time to buy a set, I will be having some more printed after new years, or soon after.
I forgot to mention these copyrighted videos are printed on DVD discs. There is also a section I forgot to mention on Carb rebuild, and AC repair, retrofit, and rebuild.
With each order comes a free cd I threw together including all of my research and design work with the GT/CS and HCS over the years. This cd includes *.dxf design files for GT/CS vinyl decals, and the HCS shield(so you can have them cut or printed cheaply at your local printer instead of paying others high prices) and other GT/CS and HCS specific schematic files(with instructions and tricks) of stuff you can make yourself cheaply: pedestal kits, fog light brackets, tailight backing plates, and vinyl colour codes for vinyl decals.
Last but not least on the bonus CD is a customizable 3D computer model file of the GT/CS and HCS taken directly from Ford surface data for you to import into your "Need for Speed" video game and race your car virtually(for those video game fans), or for others that would like to create your own artwork.
A booklet is enclosed with each set identifying specialty sources for those hard to find parts at the best prices. Along with this comes a cool offer for an exquisite 1:16 scale replica kit of the GT/CS and HCS that I have just had made available to me from a vendor.
I think thats everything i forgot to mention. Any questions feel free to e-mail me at hotrod69dfw@hotmail.com

This wouldn't be a easy way of dancing around the question listed above that has yet to be answered would it?

Seems pretty convienent that it went out of stock right after we asked the questions about having the video reviewed. Also seems pretty strange to me that he forget to tell us about all the added little goodies until after it was sold out. I would think if one was putting out a restoration video that all the items in the video would be listed up front. How do you forget things in a video "you" are supposidly the publisher of. Plus, we still have not received an answer to our question.

Does anyone seriously think he could have sold out an entire run on GT/CS restoration video's/dvd's and not sell a single one to the largest gathering of GT/CS owners here at the CaliforniaSpecial.com? Something is really smelling fishy to me. He certainly isn't much for customer service, like you guys said he avoided every single question we offered.

I'd like to know how this guy got FORD surface data from 1968, cars were still designed on paper back then.

Even if someone spent the time to re-create the data on a CAD system it would be a heck of a lot of work and then, of course, is the trade dress infringement issue.

If FORD actually created the 'surface data' it isn't readily available to any Joe Schmo looking to import data into his xbox.

I guess where I'm going with this is the same place you guys went.

I've worked in the auto industry for 14 years and have been doing 'surface data' work on a system called CATIA for the last 6. If the video expert wants to expand on this 'surface data' issue I welcome the dialogue.

Thanks for the questions and comments. You are right, the team does use CATIA V5 to design all class A surfaces. Ford has recreated all of their previous production cars to computer models for research purposes. Me along with the other members of the GT design team re-created the surface data. This computer model is only available to you through me.
You should probably read more carefully, because I never stated you can import the model directly into any stand alone gaming system. Only Need for Speed computer games. I understand some of this may be hard to understand to designers that are still transitioning from UG/IDEAS. Easy does it, you will eventually be there with the rest of us.
I only had 30 copies available of the video series, but don't fret, more copies will be available after new year. Sorry, I don't cater to free-loaders wanting to "review the tapes" ::)
Please e-mail me with any questions on the video series to hotrod69dfw@hotmail.com

First of all let me say this - folks on this site are not "Free Loaders". As for yourself, one who just pops up out of the clear blue claiming to have all this knowledge of restoring the GT/CS etc., you would think would be open to having the video reviewed by someone on the site (with video being returned after review) who is knowledgeable of the GT/CS which would not only validate the video but, open up a large customer base for themselves. As for myself I will not buy anything from someone on the internet that is not proven to be worth the money or someone I do not know. The old addiage "Buyer Beware" comes into play. Besides, you contacted us, we did not contact you.

Maybe you should read more carefully and you would see that there are still many questions that have been asked by members that still have not been answered? Sounds to me like you still have your dancing shoes on.

I'll agree with Don, you allow one reputable GT/CS person from this site to review your video and if that reveiw comes back positive you just sold a bunch of the videos.

You resist a review from a reputable GT/CS person and it tells me one thing. You have no faith in the video therefore the only way you will sell it is sight unseen and hope to get as many out the door as you can before the negative reports come back. Anyone with any sales knowledge would be able to plainly see the benefit of one good review on this site for a GT/CS video or anything related that they were trying to sell in quantity.

This sight hosts the most reputable GT/CS people in the world. And those people are the ones that we recommended you let review the video, very trustworthy I might add and they would return your video if you so desired I'm sure. Resisting is only costing you a bunch of money WAY MORE THAN GIVING ONE VIDEO AWAY FOR REVIEW I GUARANTEE IT. Unless of course the video is garbage.

I for one would be very interested in the product if I had a good review from one of these aforemention GT/CS people. In fact if the price isn't out of this world I'd guarantee you a purchase if they give it good reviews.

P.S. I commend you for your courteous way in handling some of our harsh ways of addressing your sales tactics, your replies have been very straight forward and polite.

The vaunted FORD GT, anyone who was the "design team" must have incredible credentials. or so they would like to think.

If FORD Motor Company invested resources to surface some of their old designs I wonder how they would feel if someone from the GT "design team" was including this data on a CD they are selling for profit? maybe those at FORD responsible for protecting intelectual property would find this thread interesting.

Whatever, we're just a bunch of freeloaders.

I'm glad you brought that very subject up. If this person is or was part of the GT design team - using company information in personal items for profit could be very detrimental. I know how my company looks upon company employees taking private company material for personal profit. Being part of my companies in-house security department, I have seen several employees escorted out the front door and prosecuted.

Thanks for all your suggestions about the review, but I haven't had any trouble selling the video.
I appreciate the "legal beagels" of this site bringing up the copyright issue, but there is no problem, I got permission before I used the design to derive my surface model. ::) I'm an not selling my 3d surface model, I'm including it as a bonus for the purchase of a video set. It's been derived from the orginal full design in order to be used just for artwork, and a computer game. And as an answer to the many questions I have recieved about the design, I will not post it online or send it to anyone that does not buy the video.
What -=MUSTANG=-, no more questions about CATIA? I figured not. Keep desigining those floorpans, body buck tags may follow if your good. ;D
I do appreciate all of excellent ideas that you all have suggested. I'll keep them filed away for reference.

Based on your latest reply I'd say your still overlooking the potential sales from a good review of your product. Can't for the life of me believe that you don't see the benefit it's pretty clear the potential it offers. How about trying a movie style review by taking some short clips of the video and sending a short version of the video with just a few highlights.

If anyone has been brave enough to venture a purchase on this video speak up and let us know. I'd seriously be interested if it has any value. Hosting the majority of the GT/CS owners in the country here at CS.COM I'd be interested to know if any GT/CS owners at all have really purchased it or if it is simply selling based on the video game aspect which I have no interest at all.
