Pictures from the 2009 Adirondack Nationals held in Lake George, NY.

There were 1559 cars registered at this year's show and plenty more that came to just hangout and cruise. It was another rainy weekend this year, but that didn't stop the crowds or the cars from coming out

The Favorite Mustang award for this year went to a guy that lives near me. He has a custom 68 Mustang that is based on a GT/CS.

Holy Cow, there were some beautiful cars out. Loved the Red GTO Judge, the F100's bring back some old memories and the 50's Chev turned into a camper, never seen that before. Your car was still the best however.

Thanks Cory! It as the best GT/CS there at least - and the only one this year actually.

That camper was very cool! I had talked to the owner. It was originally custom made by a guy that worked for an aircraft manufacturer. Boeing or Grumman maybe. He used aircraft steel for the camper part. It was originally a coupe. The current owner restored it to how it looks today.

The guy uses it to camp too - actually stayed in it the first night he got there and then in his hotel the rest of the days.

Did you see the Jeep and Fire Truck with the rear steering? That was pretty cool too.

The best part though - even in the rain almost all of those really nice cars were on the showfield and/or cruising around town.

First I was lost as picture after picture presented awesome cars, it is my desire to someday own a 30's coupe in some fashion, modified for sure not stock. Next I was amazed at the quality of most of the cars, I can certainly say I will never have a desire to be a judge, can you imagine having that many cars in front of you, all awesome, and the owners wanting you to judge them?? I couldn't believe how many there were, we don't have any shows that large around here, if you have a show you will have 20-50 cars and only a small handfull will be "Aweseome" The rest just so so.

Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Thanks Cory and Rhonda! I enjoy sharing the photos.

They don't actually do judging in the usual type of classes.

They give out a Favorite 50 to 50 cars and you get a trophy, jacket and hat. I think they still give jackets).
Then those 50 winners return the following year where 2 of them are selected as Senior winners and those cars go on the show logo the following year.
So the Favorite 50 from this year, come back for the 2010 show and 2 are selected to be on the show logo for 2011.

They also give out some other specialty awards.
So any car is up for any of the awards.

The show sells out every year. You mail your registration in at the end of January (can't be postmarked before a certain date) and then it's first come first serve.

Here is the site for the show:
http://adirondacknationals.com

Below is a run down of the awards:

Senior Winners
Each year we select two of the returning Favorite 50 Winners, chosen the previous year, to become our Senior Winners. Aside from being the highest honor given at the event, the Senior Winners will be forever imortalized by being featured on the following years event artwork such as t-shirts, souvenirs, advertisments, Ect.
Favorite 50
Each year we select 50 of our favorite vehicles to become Favorite 50 Winners. Since we judge based solely on what we consider to be our favorite vehicles, anyone can win.
As a bonus to be named a Favorite 50 Winner, you are asked to return the following year to compete for the honor of Senior Winner.
ARK's Specialty Awards
Albany Rods and Kustoms sponsors the following specialty awards.

  • Joyce Rochester Favorite Corvette Award -

The “Favorite Corvette” Award is given in Memory of our friend and long standing club member Joyce Rochester. Joyce was a vital part of our car club and the Adirondack Nationals. Over her 17+ years as a member of Albany Rods and Kustoms, she held many positions; Event Co-chairman, Head of Adirondack Nationals Vehicle Registration and lastly, President of ARK. Joyce was also active in her community and was there to help anyone in need. Her love of family, friends, community and ARK were limitless. Joyce was also passionate about cars, her favorite being her 1962 Corvette, a likeness of which is engraved on the front of the Award.

  • Ricky Giusto Favorite Mustang Award -

Ricky Giusto was a boy who loved the Adirondack Nationals. According to his parents he was a "Complete Mustang Fanatic". In 1987, Ricky and his mom convinced his dad to sell their '63 Corvette and buy a '65 Mustang GT Convertible. In 1992, their Mustang was an Adirondack Nationals Favorite 50 Winner and Ricky rolled up in his wheelchair to accept the award. Six weeks later, on October 31st, Ricky lost his battle with Muscular Dystrophy. The following year, Albany Rods & Kustoms established the "Ricky Giusto Favorite Mustang Award" in his honor. This award has become well known and coveted by Mustang owners ever since.

  • Jessica Garmley Favorite "T" Bucket -

The Favorite T-bucket award is given in Memory of Jessica Garmley. Jessica loved our show and was looking forward to coming to the 2005 event with her parents and their T-bucket. Unfortunately, she passed away from a brief battle with Leukemia before getting the chance. Jessica's Parents did attend the event and were the Winners of the 2005 Favorite T-bucket Award. When we heard their story, we decided to establish the "Jessica Garmley Favorite T-Bucket Award" in her honor.
